Abstract

Objective:To study the efficacy of montelukast combined with turbutaline on the prevention of cough variant asthma in children. Methods:Forty patients were treated with turbutaline and montelukast sodium chewable tablets.Another 40 patients who were taken turbutaline orally served as control. After symptoms disappearing, turbutaline treatment was ceased in both groups and montelukast administration continued till the eighth week.Recurrence of cough, asthma conversion and adverse events had been followed up for 9 months. Results:The therapeutic efficacy in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P0.05).The recurrent rate of cough, asthma conversion and adverse events were less in the treatment group than those in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion:Montelukast combined with turbutaline has effect on cough variant asthma with little side effect in children.
