Abstract

Objective To evaluate the value of enhanced and delayed spiral CT scans in the diagnosis of renal trauma. Materials and Methods Image data of plain spiral CT, enhanced CT, and delayed enhanced CT scans in 50 cases of renal injuries were retrospectively analyzed. Results Marginal irregularity of the kidney was displayed on plain spiral CT in 33 cases, subcapsular hematoma in 14 cases, and perinephric hemorrhage in 13 cases, renal contusion in 16 cases, renal avulsion in 7 cases. Enhanced and delayed CT scan not only showed what have been presented in the plain CT scans but also demonstrated 7 cases with external fistula of urine due to injury of collecting systems.Conclusion Enhanced and delayed CT scan are of important value in the diagnosis of renal trauma, especially in those with injuries in collecting systems.
