Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of atuo-single hair follicle transplants in the management of permanent alopecia, androgen-induced baldness and scar baldness. Methods The scalp of occipital area was dissected in proper size. Single follicular unit including 4-5 hairs was resected under microscopy. The micro-incisions were prepared by 2 mm in the recipient area. Then the grafts were transplanted into at incisions with microforceps. Results From Oct. 2003 to Oct. 2007, 136 patients with different permanent alopecia were treated by auto-single hair follicle transplants. There were 143 male and 20 female, aged 21-60 years. In this group, most of patients gained satisfactory growing of the hair. Conclusion Treatment of permanent alopecia by use of auto-single hair follicle transplants affer many advantages, such as simple operation, satisfactory results and minimal trauma.
