Abstract

Objective To study the therapeutic effect of limbus auto transplantation on recurrent pterygium.Methods 27 cases (29 eyes)with recurrent pterygum wer undergone limbus auto transplantation with postoperative follow up from 6 months to 2 years.Results Corneal epithelium healed well and stably without neovascularization or conjunctivalike tissue hypertrophy.Corneas were smooth and transparent.No symblepharon of relapse was found.Conclusions Limbus auto transplantation can supply the pathological area with a new source of stem cells,and decrease the post operative relapse rate, so it is value to be used extensively.
