Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effects of enamel matrix proteins(EMPs) on cell cycle and alkaline phosphate (ALP) activity of human bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs). Methods:Human BMSCs were cultured in DMEM medium with 10% fetal bovine serum(FBS) in vitro. EMPs was added into medium at a concentration of 200 μg /ml as experimental group. BMSCs were cultured without EMPs as control group. Cell cycle was evaluated by flow cytometry. ALP activity was also detected by ALP detection kit. Results:EMPs at a concentration of 200 μg/ml could enhance ALP activity and affect cell cycle of BMSCs. Cell number in S stage was 19.48% in EMPs group, and 9.89% in control group. Conclusion:EMPs can promote ALP activity of human BMSCs,and affect cell cycle of BMSCs. EMPs may act as a kind of promotive factor for BMSCs.
