Abstract
Objective To explore and analyze clinical efficacy and safety of oxcarbazepine on patients with traumatic epilepsy. Methods A total of 100 patients with traumatic epilepsy admitted by PLA General Hospital during Mar. 2012 and Mar. 2013 were selected, and divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table method,50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with sodium valproate treatment, the observation group were treated with oxcarbazepine therapy. Clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared. Results The number of patients in observation group who showed no abnormal EEG after treatment accounted for 68%,significantly higher than that of control group, while the numbers of epileptiform discharges and slow wave respectively accounted for 36%,28% respectively, both lower than the control group( P 0. 05). After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 84%,significantly higher than 58% of the control group( P 0. 05),but the incidence of adverse reaction was much lower than the control group( P 0. 05). In addition, the laboratory indexes of both groups after treatment were similar to before treatment with no significant difference( P 0. 05). Conclusion Oxcarbazepine has a remarkable effect as the treatment of patients with traumatic epilepsy, which can serve as the preferred drug for seizures, with high safety and less adverse reaction, suitable for wide popularization in clinical practice.
