Abstract

Heavy oil reservoir is restrained and bounded by edge and boundary waters, and in the recovery process some problems are encountered, such as serious sanding in the conventional recovery process of vertical well, high water cut increasing rate, low reservoir tapping efficiency and low oil recovery factor.Aiming to solve these problems, research was done on techniques for horizontal well thermal recovery of heavy oil reservoir with edge and boundary waters: firstly,a thorough study on oil reservoir geology was carried out;secondly, the main factors which restrain oil reservoir recovery were analyzed;thirdly, the technical boundaries of horizontal well thermal recovery were studied and optimized by the application of advanced oil reservoir numerical simulation methods;fourthly, supporting techniques of horizontal well thermal recovery were studied and formed. As a result, the reservoir tapping efficiency and oil recovery factor of heavy oil reservoir with edge and boundary waters were increased greatly when this technique was applied in oil fields.
