Clinical effect analysis of prosthodontic treatment of the residual root and crown on 120 cases of elderly patients

Objective To discuss the therapeutic effect of treatment of residual root and crown on elderly patients and enrich the clinical experience.Methods One hundred and twenty elderly patients with 142 offending teeth accepted prosthodontic treatment of the residual root and crown from May 2007 to May 2009 were selected.After thorough root canal therapy,prosthodontic treatment of root canal metal thread post resin core and post core,the clinical efficacy was observed through 2-4 years of follow-up.Results 2-4 years of follow-up survey found that 127 teeth were successfully repaired,accounted for 89.4%.But there were 15 teeth failed.To be specific,among 15 failed teeth,the number of baked porcelain crown getting loose,thread post getting loose,fracture of metal thread post,fold crack of post core,and vertical root fracture was 7,4,2,1 and 1 teeth.Conclusion Prosthodontic treatment of root canal metal thread post resin core and post core obtains a good clinical effect in the treatment of residual root and crown on the elderly with a high repair success rate.It improves the quality of life of the elderly and is worthy of extension in clinic.
