Abstract

Objective:To explore the expression and significance of MMP-9 in recurrent aphthous ulcer(RAU).Methods:The expression intensity and distribution of MMP-9 were examined by immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR in 56 cases of recurrent aphthous ulcer patients.Results:The expression level of MMP-9 in RAU patients was higher than that in the normal group(P0.05),and the level of MMP-9 of severe RAU patients was significantly higher than that of patients with moderate and mild RAU(P0.05).Conclusion:The level of MMP-9 in RAU patients is significantly increased,which indicates that MMP-9 may play a role in the pathogenesis of RAU.
