The effects of carvedilol on cardiac troponin I and cardiac function in patients with congestive heart failure

Objective To observe the effects of carvedilol on cardiac troponin I(cTnI)and cardiac function in patients with congestive heart failure(CHF).Method Forty-two CHF patients were randomly divided into carvedilol group(n=21) and control group(n=21).Patients in control group were treated with regular cardiac medicine.Patients in carvedilol group were given an administration of carvedilol on the basic of regular cardiac medicine therapy for 2 weeks.Before and 2 weeks after treatment,the plasma levels of cTnI,LVEF,FS,SV,CO and CI were determined.Results The total effective rate was higher in carvedilol group than that in control group(P0.05);the plasma levels of cTnI decreased significantly in both group 2 weeks after treatment,but cTnI was lower in carvedilol group than that in control group(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion Carvedilol can improve heart function and rectify abnormal cardiac troponin I.
