Analysis of Baseline Survey of Rual Safe Water Supply in Yulin City

Objective To know the public health conditions of the drinking water in Yulin region and explore the coping strategies. Methods The monitoring results and datas about the public health condition of the drinking water in Yulin region in the year of 2003 are sorted out and analyzed and then the coping strategies are raised.Results According to the 'Drinking Water Sanitary Standard' Countryside Practice Norm(to abbreviate it to the Norm as follow) published by the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee and the Ministry of Public Health in 1991,the drinking water resources in Yulin Countryside region in 2003 are mainly for the ground waters.The population drinking ground waters accounts for 91.87% of the whole population and the population drinking surface water accounts for 8.13%.The population drinking tap water accounts for 40.09% and the population drinking other water except tap water accounts for 59.92%.The drinking water which can not pass the water quality monitoring according to the 'Drinking Water Sanitary Standard' Countryside Practice Norm accounts for 68.33%.The reasons are because the drinking water did not meet the norm for the total coliform groups which accounts for 38.33% and the total dacterial counts accounts for 40.00%.Conclusion The drinking water resources in Yulin Countryside region are mainly superficial ground waters which is gotten by hand-pumps and directly drunk..The water resources did not be protected and was hidden danger because insalubrity drinking cause water-borne infection.These problems should be paid much attention to by relevant governments.
