Abstract
Objective In order to understand the epidemiologic features of measles since implementing the measles surveillance in Zhoushan City. Methods We analyzed the measles epidemic situation and surveillance system operation during 1998-2003. Results The resusts showed that 196 measles cases were reported in the whole city during 1998-2003,122 were confirmed by laboratory,110 were local cases. The measles annual average incidence was 1.87/105.The high incidence period was in Spring, and the most measles cases were young adults,52.46% cases had no clear immunization history and 20.49% cases had immunization history. Conclusion The measles survillance system was running normally, and the sensitivity was relatively high.Measles had been controlled at relatively low level. We should improve the timely coverage of measles vaccine among children aged 8 months in the future.
