AIM:To vestigate the roles of IL-6 and hs-CRP in development of coronary heart disease(CHD).METHODS:170 cases of angina pectoris were enrolled in the study,including 86 patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP group)and 84 patients with stable angina pectoris(SAP group).Forty healthy subjects were taken as controls(Control group).The level of IL-6 was measured with ELISA.The level of hs-CRP was measured with ratenephelometry.RESULTS:The level of IL-6 and hs-CRP were singnificantly higher in UAP group than in SAP group,[(35.48±10.15)vs(22.16±8.45)pg/L,P0.01,(2.12±0.72)vs(1.87±0.67)μg/L,P0.01].They were singnificantly higher than those in control group[(16.10±6.24)pg/L,P0.01,(1.22±0.50)μg/L,P0.01].Multiple Logistic regression analysis indicated that IL-6 was an independent risk for the stability of lesions and the severity of stenosis in patients with CHD.There was positive relations between IL-6 and hs-CRP(rs=0.715,P0.05).CONCLUSION:IL-6 may play important roles in development of CHD by activating inflammation response and increasing the levels of hs-CRP.
