Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of terbutaline on pulmonary edema in rabbits after seawater drowning. Methods 24 New Zealand rabbits were infused with seawater to establish pulmonary edema models and then were randomly divided into the control group( CG) and the terbutaline therapy group (TG).PaO2,PaCO2 ,static compliance (CT) and dynamic compliance (CD) were monitered during the experiment.Extravascular lung water index(EVLWI) ,Evan's blue leakage index (ELI) ,neutrophil count and TNF-α in lung bronchial alveolar lavage fluid and the Na+-K+-ATP activity of lung homogenate were examined. Results PaO2 ,CT,CD and Na+-K+-ATP activity in the TG group was markedly lower than that of the CG group (P0.05).EVLWI,ELI,TNF-α and neutrophil count were also significantly lower than those of the CG group (P0.05 ).Conclusions Terbutaline can improve hypoxia of PE-SDW rabbits, and decease pulmonary edema.
