Abstract
One of key factors, which hindered producing kojic acid on industrial scale is that the yield of kojic acid producing strain is low. This work was undertaken to investigate the effect of UV and 60 Co ray irradiation on production of kojic acid by Aspergillus oryzae. A high yield kojic acid producing mutation AUR163 was screened out from Aspergillus oryzae effusus strain AS32 by UV and 60 Co ray mutation technique.Under optimal cultivation conditions the mutant AUR163 produced kojic acid over 6.8?g/100?ml after 4 days. The average of productivity was 17?g/L.d;and the highest was 30.5?g/L.d corresponding to an increase of more than 190% compared with the original strain AS32.
