Abstract

Objective To investigate the chemical constituents in roots of Paeonia lactiflora. Methods The compounds were isolated by silica gel column chromatography,Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, and ODS column chromatography.Their structures were elucidated by spectral analyses and physicochemical properties. Results Fifteen compounds were isolated and identified as paeoniflorin(1),lalbiflorin(2),4-O-galloylalbiflorin(3),galloypaeonbiflorin(4),galloylalbiflorin(5),6-O-galloyl-β-Dglucopyraneose(6),pyrogallol(7),galic acid(8),methyl gallate(9),ethyl gallate(10),catechin(11),1,2,3,4,6-pentagalloylglucose(12),di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate(13),sucrose(14),and β-sitosterol(15).Conclusion Compound 6 is isolated from the plants of Paeonia L.for the first time.Compound 7 is isolated from the title plant for the first time.
