Abstract

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of Guben Fangxiao decoction in children with syndrome of qi deficiency of lung and spleen during remission of asthma. Methods: Sixty children in remission of asthma were randomly divided into treatment group( n = 30) and control group( n = 30). The treatment group received Guben Fangxiao decoction, while the control group received Seretide. Results: After treatment, the treatment group showed significant improvements in score of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms, number of asthma attacks, upper respiratory tract infections, pulmonary ventilation function, and childhood asthma control test( C- ACT) score( P 0. 05); there were no significant differences in C- ACT score, number of asthma attacks, and pulmonary ventilation function between the two groups( P 0. 05),but significant difference was found in number of upper respiratory tract infections( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Guben Fangxiao decoction can be used as a choice of treatment in children with syndrome of qi deficiency of lung and spleen during remission of asthma.
