Preparation of standard rat myocardial infarction model

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the preparation methods for standard rat myocardial infarction model.Methods Animal model was produced by ligation of the left coronary artery through left thoracotomy,after anaesthesia and oral trachea cannula.The rats were killed by injected potassium chloride on 4th week after operation.Took out of the heart and then observed the shape,infarct size and the pathological morphology by HE stain.Results After receiving the operation as described above,all of the rats suffered myocardial infarction,and 90% of rats survived.The left ventricle became larger and the endocardium of the survival rats showed fibrosis.Conclusion A preparation method had been proved to be useful for rat myocardial infarction model.And the standard myocardial infarction model of rat can be used to investigate the mechanism and therapy of myocardial remodeling.
