Abstract
Objective To explore a standardized, easily handling method for creating a high-survival rat model with myocardial infarction. Methods Eighty Wistar rats received intraperitoneal anesthesia underwent tracheotomy and a breathing machine was connected to assist ventilation. The left anterior descending coronary artery was ligated by open chest approach. The rats were killed under anesthesia 28 days after the procedure. The hearts were removed, and the shape observed. The myocardium of infarct zone was stained with HE.Results The success rate of modeling was 100% with a survival of 96%.The left ventricle was dilated, its wall of ischemic zone became thinner with light colour. Conclusion This method raises the survival rate of models with myocardial infarction in rats. The model is stable and repeatable, which satisfies one or more ligation requirements.
