Abstract

s objective To investigate the clinical effects of allograft in the treatment of bone defects.Methods:21 cases of patients including 15 cases of traumatic bone defects and 6 cases of tumorous bone defects, aged 7 to 56 years old, were treated by allograft which come from Medical Tissue Bank of Shanxi Province in china,in which 1 case of long segmental allograft?11 cases of bone block and bone strip allograft and 9 cases of bone strip allograft postoperative wound union?manifestation of immuno-rejection?union of bone defects and complication were observed.Results:21 cases were followed for 2 to 18 months.incision union of the first rate happened in 16 case, the second rate in 4 cases and 1 case showed postoperative infection of wound.19 cases displayed union of allograft and 1 case showed segmental resorption.1 case was followed for 65 days,butnon-union happened.Discussion:Small piece of allograft can receive the same therapeutic results as that of autograft and no obvious immuno-rejection was found. The effect oflarge segmental allograft is waiting for observation.
