Abstract
1-(4-Methyl-6-hydroxyl-pyrimidine)-3-(phenyl-azo)-triazene(MHPPAT) as a chromogenic reagent was synthesized and its color reaction with cadmium was also investigated. In the presence of the surface active agent NP and in the Na2B4O7-NaOH medium with a pH value of 11.0,MHPPAT could form a purple complex with Cd(Ⅱ).The apparent molar absorbtivity of the complex was 4.28×105 L·mol-1·cm-1 at 520 nm(λmax). The molar ratio of Cd(Ⅱ) to MHPPAT was 1∶3.The Beer′s law was well obeyed in the range of 0~360 μg/L of cadmium. The method has been applied to the direct determination of cadmium in wastewater with satisfactory results.
