Abstract

Objective: To investigate the infection rate of ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu) and chlamydia trachomalis(CT) in the infertile women, and study the relationship between infertility and the infection of Uu and CT. Methods Uu and CT in samples of cervical secretion were detected. The study groups included 418 infertile women and 52 normal early pregnancies. Results The positive rate of Uu and CT in the infertility group was 46.4% and 17.7% respectively, significantly higher than in the control group (P0.01). The positive rate of Uu in the secondary infertility group was 59.2%, significantly higher than in the primary infertility group (P0.01). The positive rate of CT in the secondary infertility group was 19.7%, higher than in the primary infertility group, but the difference was not significant (P0.05). In 225 patients who were infected with Uu or/and CT, 42 cases (18.7%) succeeded to be naturally pregnant after taking anti-infectious treatment. Conclusion The infection of Uu and CT is an important factor in infertility. The detection of Uu and CT should be regarded as routine test in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility.
