STUDY ON GERMICIDAL EFFICACY OF A COMPOUND HERBAL DISINFECTANT OF Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Objective To study the germicidal efficacy of a compound herbal disinfectant ofStaphylococcus aureus.Methods The suspension quantitative germicidal test was used to test the germicidal efficacy and related properties of the disinfectant in the laboratory.Results The compound disinfectant solution contains 1 000 mg/L extract of Common Andrographis Herb,Honeysuckle Flower,Indigowoad Root respectively,and 20 g/L chitosan.The killing logarithm value(KL) of S.aureus in suspension exposed to the compound disinfectant for 5 min was 5.0.The germicidal efficacy of the compound disinfectant was obviously influenced when the bacteria suspension contained 25% calf serum,and when pH value of the disinfectant changed.When the compound disinfectant was stored in 54℃ incubator for 14 days,KL of S.aureus decreased to 1.25.Conclusion The compound herbal disinfectant has good germicidal efficacy on S.aureus.However,the germicidal efficacy is influenced by organic matters,pH value and long-term storage.
