Expression of P53 and Mdm2 in Oral Lichen Planus and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective:To study the expression of P53,a novel member of anti-oncogene protein family,and Mdm2,a novel member of carcinomoa gene protein family,and their relationship with oral lichen planus(OLP) and oral squamous cell carcinoma.Methods:Immunohistochemical technique S-P was used to detect the expression of P53 and Mdm2 protein in 12 cases of normal oral mucosa,40 cases of OLP tissues and 33 cases of OSCC,and their relationship was analyzed.Results:The expression rate of P53 protein was significantly increased with in NOM,OLP and OSCC.Mdm2 protein was not expressed in the NOM,with a weak expression in the OLP and an expression in OSCC of different pathological grades in order of increasing positive rate.Expressions of each group were statistically significant(P0.05).In addition,P53 protein and Mdm2 protein expressions in OSCC tissue had no significant correlation.Conclusion:P53 and MDM2 protein expression is closely related to the development of oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma.
