Abstract

Objective:To determine the effect of Adalat GITS on left ventricular hypertropy and myocardial fibrosis.Method: Thirty four hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) were treated with Adalt GITS for 24 weeks. Left ventricular mass index (LVMI), serum level of procollagen type Ⅲ(PCⅢ), laminin (LN), hyaluronic acid (HA), collagen type Ⅳ(CIV) and transforming growth factor β 1 (TGF β 1) were measured before and after 12, 24 week treatment. These parameters were also measured in 28 healthy subjects.Result: LVMI, serum level of PCⅢ and LN were lowered significantly in 34 hypertensive patients with 24 week treatment (P 0.01 ). Serum level of TGF β 1 was also decreased markedly during 24 week treatment by Adalat GITS. Serum level of PCⅢ, LN were positively correlated with LVMI and TGF β 1 in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Adalat GITS can reduce LVH as well as myocardial fibrosis in hypertensive patients.
