Abstract

Objective To study the situation of syphilis infection, and to discuss the practical significance of screening antibody of Treponema pallidum. Then positive samples were examined by TRUST(toluidine red unheated serum test)and TPPA(Treponema pallidum particle agglutination) for further testing. Results Altogether 5 998 hospitalized patients were detected by this test, and 86 cases of them were positive by ELISA,and TPPA was positive in 78 cases and positive TRUST in 22 cases. The positive rate in elder patients( 70 years old) was higher than other age groups. Conclusion Routine screening of hospitalized patients can effectively detect antibody of Treponema pallidum in patients with latent syphilis,it is important not only for early diagnosis but also for early treatment, and it may also reduce the occurrence of medical disputes, thus it may prevent the cross infection in hospital.
