The value of pleural needle biopsy in the etiological diagnosis of exudative pleural effussion

Objective: To evaluate the safety and clinical significance of using pleural needle biopsy in diagnosis of pleural effusion.Methods: The pleural biopsy in 78 patients with exudative pleural effusion was performed by pleural biopsy needle.Results: Total 90 times of pleural biopsy were completed on 78 patients,81 pleural tissues were gained.The puncture succuess rate was 90%.With 47 cases of pathological specificity diagnosis and the positive rate of pathological diagnosis was 60.3%.There were 2 cases(2.6%) with the complication of pneumothorax and 4 cases(5.1%) with pleural response.Conclusion: Pleural needle biopsy is a safe,simple and effective method in the diagnosis of pleural diseases.
