The Changes of Renal Arterial Resistive Index in Early Stage of Renal Injury Following Hypertension

Abstract

Objective To investigate the changes of renal arterial resistive index(RI) and their clinical significances in early stage of renal injury following hypertension.Methods One hundred and sixty eight cases of primary hypertension were selected.They were divided into three groups based on renal function: renal function normal group(n=61),renal function declining group(n=57) and azotemia group(n=50).Fifty-one subjects were also studied as control group.Renal arterial RI was detected in all cases by Color Doppler Flow Imaging.Blood urea nitrogen(BUN),serum creatinine(Scr),uric acid(UA) and creatinine clearance(Ccr) were measured in all cases.Results Renal arterial RI of various renal arteries in renal function azotemia group increased more significantly than that in either control group,renal function normal group or renal function declining group(P0.05).Segmental and interlobular renal arterial RI in renal function declining group increased more significantly than that in control group(P0.05),but there was no significant difference in the master renal arterial RI.Renal arterial RI of various renal arteries in grade three hypertension and grade two hypertension increased more significantly than that in control group(P0.05).There was significant difference in UA,Scr and Ccr between grade three hypertension and control group.UA in grade two hypertension increased more significantly than that in control group with significant difference(P0.05),but there was no significant difference in Scr and Ccr.Conclusion Renal arterial RI are a sensitive index to evaluate renal injury with hypertension.
