Analysis of the correlation of renal arterial resistive index with blood pressure and kidney function in the aged patients with hypertension

Abstract

Objective To investigate the renal arterial resistive index (RI) in the aged hypertensive patients,and to analyze the correlation between renal arterial RI and blood pressure and kidney function. Methods 134 cases of aged primary hypertensive patients were selected,including 67 cases of hypertension Ⅲ,35 cases of hypertension Ⅱ and 32 cases of hypertension Ⅰ,and 29 subjects also were chosen as control group. Renal arterial RI was detected in all cases by color Doppler flow imaging. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN),serum creatinine (Cr),creatinine clearance rate (CCr),serum homocysieine (Hcy),urine β2 microglobulin(β2-MG)were measured in all cases. Results Renal arterial RI in patients with hypertension Ⅲ, Ⅱ was increased more significantly than that in control group (P0.01). There was significant difference in kidney function in hypertension Ⅲ group compared with control group(P0.05), but only urine β2-MG, Hcy in hypertension Ⅱ group were increased more significantly than those in control group (P0.05). Renal arterial RI was positively correlated with BUN,Cr,Hcy,urine β2-MG,and negatively correlated with CCr. Conclusions Renal arterial RI is related to the blood pressure level in aged hypertensive patients, the combining measurement of urine β2-MG and serum homocysieine can reflect the damage of kidney function in the early stage.
