Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical significance of p16 gene expression in gastric carcinoma and its role in the prognosis of gastric carcinoma.Methods: The expression of P16 in 68 patients with gastric carcinoma were analyzed by immunohistochemical staining.Results: The expression levels of P16 protein in normal gastric tissues and gastric carcinoma tissues showed significant difference (P0.05).The expression levels of P16 protein in differentiated types and undifferentiated types also showed significant difference (P0.05).The positive rate of P16 protein in patients with lymphatic metastasis (28.57%) was significantly lower than that without lymphatic metastasis (61.53%) (P0.05),and the positive rate of P16 protein was not related to the infiltration degrees of gastric carcinoma.Conclusion: The abnormal expression of P16 is related to the poor biological behavior and may be helpful to evaluate the prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
