Abstract

Objectives:To study the expression of P16 protein in gastric carcinoma and research the effect and relation with prognosis. Methods:The expression of P16 protein was determined in 60 cases of gastric carcinoma,18 case of benign gastric diseases and 15 cases of normal gastric tissue with immunohistochemical method. Results:The positive rate of P16 protein in gastric carcinoma was lower than that in benign gastric diseases and in normal gastric tissue ( P 0 05).The expression of P16 was closely correlated to tumor histodifferentiation type, degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis and prognosis of patients with gastric carcinoma. Conclusions:The results suggest that P16 protein may play an important rote in the occurrence and development of the gastric carcinoma. The expression of P16 protein might be a indicator for assessing benign and malignant disease and prognosis of patient with gastric carcinoma.
