Abstract
Objective To investigate expression of PTEN and survivin in ovarian epithelial neoplasms. Methods Expresion of PTEN and survivin in 57 samples of ovarian epithelial carcinomas, 20 samples of benign ovarian epithelial tumors and 10 normal ovarian issues were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results Survivin was detected in 64.91% of ovarian epithelial carcinomas, but not in benign ovarian epithelial tumors and normal ovarian tissues (P 0.01). The positive expression rate of PTEN was significantly lower in ovarian epithelial carcinomas (38.60% ) than in benign ovarian epithelial tumors (95.00%) and normal ovary issues (100%)(P 0.05). Expression of PTEN and survivin was positively correlated with clinical stages and histological grades of ovarian neoplasms. Conclusion Up-regulated expression of survivin and down-regulated expression of PTEN might play an important role in the oncogenesis of ovarian epithelial carcinomas.
