Abstract
The Modern Vernacular Chinese Movement was operated on two progressive levels:the destruction of classical Chinese and the construcfion of modern vernacular Chinese.Fu Sinian's views on vernacular literature,which were put forward in the period of the May 4th Movement,were of great importance and value for the construction of modern vernacular Chinese.In this paper,a detailed discussion is made of his views on vernacular literature in terms of unification of spoken and written language,Europeanization of Chinese grammar,and humanization of literature.
