Efficacy of the combined laparoscopy and mifepristone in the treatment of 46 pelvic endometriosis

Objective:To investigate the effects of the combined laparescopy and mifepristone for treating for patients with endometriosis.Methods:Ninety patients with endometriosis were divided into two groups randomly in Gezhouba Center Hospital from Jan 2004 to Jan 2005 as single laparoscopic group and combined therapy group,containing 44 and 46 patients,respectively.In the second group,mifepristone was administered in a dose of 10 mg/d continuously for 3 months in each patient.All the patients had been followed up for 3 to 12 months.Results:The follow-up rate was 97.7%(88/90).The effective rate of single operation group was 41.8%,while it was 66.7% in the combined therapy group,which was much higher than that of first group(P0.05).Conclusion:Administering of low dose mifepristone after laparoscopic operation could be a promising avenue of endometriosis treatment.
