Abstract

ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between test anxiety, coping style and social support. Methods 170 senior middle school students were investigated by use of State Anxiety Inventory, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire and Social Support Questionnaire. Results There was significant negative correlation between test anxiety and active coping, social support(r= -0.299~-0.307,P0.01); there was significant positive correlation between passive coping and test anxiety(r= 0.154,P0.05); there was significant positive correlation between active coping and social support(r=0.418,P0.01); significant differences of active coping and social support exist between high anxiety group and low anxiety group(t= 4.550~-3.865,P0.001); significant differences of social support and utilization of social support exist between male and female(t=2.668~-3.590,P0.01~0.001); Significant differences of social support and subjective support exist between Grade Two, Grade Three(P0.05). ConclusionThere was significant correlation between test anxiety, coping style and social support. To reduce test anxiety, students should master effective coping style, parents and school should give the students more social support.
