A Study on Status of Health Human Resources in Community Health Service Institutions in Beijing

Objective To know the situation of community health human resources in Beijing and to find out the existing problems.Methods A general survey was conducted among the community health service staff in Beijing ' s 18 districts or counties by using self-administered questionnaire,which was based on Beijing community health service monitoring network.Data was analyzed with Excel and SPSS 13.0 software.Results There are totally 20 754 health professional workers,including 8 430 doctors,5 211 nurses and 2 323 prevention and health care workers.Ratio of doctors/nurses is 1.6/1.The ages of health professional workers are mainly from 25 to 44 years old,about 55.69%.In educational background,many of them are from junior college,about 41.60%.In professional title,32.69% of them have the title of intermediate rank.Conclusion The personnel troop of community health service in Beijing has formed.However,its quantity and quality still can ' t meet the need of residents.It is suggested the number of health professional workers especially nurses and prevention and health care workers should increase.Meanwhile,we should enhance the general practice training and human resources policies.
