On the Shuidui Industry in Huizhou during the Ming and Qing Dynasties

In summary,the study of the Shuidui industry during traditional times has been very limited. This paper focuses on the Shuidui industry in Huizhou during the Ming and Qing Dynasties through extensive collection of all kinds of literature including folk instruments, in particular on the issue of the trading and management of Shuidui. The Shuidui industry in Huizhou had played an important role on the processing of agricultural products and farmers’ life. The selling and pawn of Shuiui also alleviated farmers’ situation of economy embarrassment. However, the development of Shuidui industry has conflicts with water transport and agricultural irrigation.
