Abstract
Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinic mechanism of insulin resistance (IR) with coronary heart disease (CHD) by the relationship study between HOMA index and risk factor for CHD as well as the severity of coronary artery lesion. Methods One hundred and fifty seven patients who received coronary angiography were divided into control group (group A) in which the coronary artery was normal, and CHD group (group B) in which at least one vessel stenosis was more than 50%.Group B were divided into group B_1、B_2 and B_3 according to the insulin resistance index (HOMA index) from low to high. After empty stomach 12 hours, all patients were determined fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin, blood lipid and high sensitive C reactive protein (hs-CRP) and others. Results The HOMA index of Group B was higher than that of Group A.With the severity of IR increasing, the rate of metabolism syndrome (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyprercholesteroleamia and obesity) and the severity of coronary artery lesions were increasing, the incidence of main acute cardiac events and complication were improving. Conclusion We can say that IR may be involved in the development of CHD,it may be one of risk factors for CHD and infects the prognosis of patients.
