Abstract

Objective To observe the C-shaped root canal of mandibular second molars so as to provide anatomical evidence for root canal therapy. Methods A total of 210 well-developed mandibular second molars were examined to make sure the number of the C-shaped root canal. Results C-shaped root canal was found in 31 teeth in vitro(38.75%) and in 33 teeth in vivo(25.38%).Conclusion The root canal systems of mandibular second molars vary considerably in their anatomical configuration, and C-form of root canal presence increases the difficulty of treatment,so it is very important to master the root canal knowledge for the success of root canal therapy.
