Clinical Study on Mifepristone in Combination with Oral Misoprostol Compared with Sublingual Misoprostol in Termination of Early Pregnancy

Objective:To evaluate the outcome of Mifepristone in combination with oral Misoprostol compared with sublingual Misoprostol in termination of pregnancy.Methods:240 women(menelipsis49 days)seeking termination of their early pregnancies were divided into two groups randomly and took 150 mg of Mifepristone orally,followed by 600 μg of Misoprostol orally or sublingually,25 mg each time,3 times a day for 48 hours.On the morning of the 3rd day,group Ⅰ took 600 μg orally and group Ⅱ sublingually.Results:The rate of complete termination of Group Ⅱ was 93.3%,higher than group Ⅰ(90.0%)without significant difference(P0.05).The rate of incomplete termination was 5.4% with group Ⅰ at 6.7% higher than that of group Ⅱ at 4.2%,without siginificant difference(P0.05).The overall rate of failure was 2.9%(3.3% in group Ⅰ and 2.5% in groupⅡ)without significant difference(P0.05).The incidence rates of nausea,vomiting,diarrhea was 52.5% with group Ⅰ at 86.7% and group Ⅱ at 18.3% with significant difference(P0.001),and the duration of expulsion in group Ⅰwas(5.27±1.78)h,longer than that of groupⅡ(3.72±1.53)h with significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion:Mifepristone-sublingual Misoprostol regimen is more effective in terminating of pregnancy than Mifepristone in combination with oral Misoprostol with a higher complete abortion rate,a lower incidence rate of vomiting,and a shorter time of expulsion of sac.So it is highly suggested.
