Plug and mesh hernia repair and its comparison to the traditional procedure

Objective:To summarize and compare the result between plug and mesh hernia repair and traditional procedure.Methods 68 patients were treated by mesh and plug hernia repair with Bard Mesh and Perfix Plug,C.R. Bard Inc..The operative procedure,surgical indication,ability recovery,postoperative pain,complications,hospitalized period and recurrence rate were observed and compared.Results The mesh and plug hernia repair had a greater advantage than the traditional hernia repair procedure,such as easier surgical performance,a wider surgical indication,less postoperative pain,quicker recovery,shorter period of hospitalization,fewer complications and lower recurrence.Conclusion: It is the currently most popular choice for a convenient hernia repair procedure.It has been an outstanding method in treating groin than traditional procedure.
