Clinical analysis of the therapeutic efficacy of plug and mesh hernia repair in inguinal hernia

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of plug and mesh tension-free hernia repair in inguinal hernia. Methods A total of 168 patients were treated by plug and mesh hernia repair with BardR Mesh PerFixR plug manufactured by Bard Company in USA. The operation time, postoperative pain, recovery of independence, hospitalized stay, complications, and recurrence rate were observed. Results The plug and mesh hernia repair had greater advantages than the traditional hernia repair procedure: easier surgical operation, less postoperative pain, quicker recovery, shorter hospital stay, fewer complications, lower recurrence, and wider surgical indications. Conclusion Plug and mesh hernia repair is the optimal surgical option for the management of inguinal hernia.
