The article is introduce author's clinic experience on curing chronic diarrhea due to spleen deficiency,wetness-heat through the modified recipe,Pinelliae Decoction for Purging Stomach-fire from Treatise on exogenous Febrile Diseases.The basic pathogenesis shows spleen-qi deficiency,hot and humid bowels,and stagnation of energy or Qi.The characteristics to theprescriptionshowsasfollowing:thejointuseoftwoherbswarmandcoldinthesamerecipe,the pungent drugs for dispersiona nd the bitter ones for purgation of qi,supplementing qi and strengthening the middle-warmer,balance of Yin and Yang,so the modifed recipe of such aprescription can be used to treat effectively the chronic diarrhea due to spleen deficiency and heat-humidity.Of the sixty cases,fifteen healed,thiryty-nine having effect,and six no effect,so the total rate of effectiveness in 90 percent.
