Professor LIU Hua-yi's Experience of Treating Chronic Diarrhea by Combination of Chinese and Western Medicine

Chronic diarrhea is caused by infection of exogenous evils,impairment by abnormal diet,imbalance of emotions,deficiency after illness,or insufficient constitution,the mechanisms underlying this disease is the gut dysfunction which is caused by the impaired spleen and stomach and the dampness blocking the spleen.Proffessor Liu think the key etiology of this disease is the failure of spleen in transformation and transportation,and it's closely related to the function of liver and kidney,despite the disease-bit center is the gut.Clinically,chronic diarrhea can be devided into 6 syndromes:deficiency of spleen and stomach syndrome,liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome,deficiency of kidney-yang syndrome,qi deficiency and water retention syndrome,cold-heat jumble syndrome,stagnation of damp-heat in middle energizer syndrome,which can be respectively treated by add and subtract Powder of Ginseng,Poria and Bighead Atractylodes,Prescription of Importantance for Diarrhea Pain,Pill of Four Miraculous Drugs,Decoction of Tetrandra and Astragalus Root with Decoction of Poria,Cinnamon Twig,White Atractylodes and Liquorice,Pinellia Decoction for Purging Stomach-fire,Pill of Aucklandia Root and Coptis.
