Abstract

Objective:To determine the macrophage inflitration and the presence of immune complexes in the herniated disc tissue and explore the mechanism of lumbar pain and sciatica induced by herniated disc tissue.Methods:Twenty-four pigs were used in this study. The pigs were sacrificed at 6 months after surgery.Macrophage inflitration and presence of immune complexes were observed with the immuohistochemisty in herniated disc tissue. Results:Macrophage was found in 23 of 32(72.2%) herniated disc tissue and only 1 of 12 (8.3%) in the control.Immune complexes were found in 15 of 32(46.9%) herniated but no one was found in the control. Conclusion:There are macrophage inflitration and presence of immune complexces in the herniated disc tissue.Macrophage inflitration and presence of immune complexes may play an impontant rote in pathogenesis of lumbar pain and sciatica.
