Abstract
Objective: To determine whether the expression of immune complexes in the herniated disc tissue and explore the mechanism of lumbar pain and sciatica induced by herniated disc tissue. Methods:Seventy six specimens of various herniated disc tissue were immunostained with anti human IgG,using the avidin biotin peroxidase complex method. Results:IC was found in 40 of 48 (83%) extrusion and sequestration disc tissue,in only 8 of 28(29%) bulging and protrusion disc tissue. Conclusion:Immune complexes seem to be prevelence in the herniated lumbar disc tissue. This may suggest IC play an important role in pathogenesis of humbar pain and sciatica.
