Abstract

October-November in 2005 and April in 2006,the basic animal resources in Maozhai Nature Reserve,Sichuan Province was surveyed.A summary of these collections shows that there are 66 species mammals. An investigation of the biogeographic origin of this mammal fauna indicates that 45 species belong to the Oriental realm,15 species belong to Palearctic realm, and 6 species are widely distributed.Of all the total species in this area, there are 16 species identified as national protected rare mammals,6 first grade protected rare mammals. In this survey we found 2 interesting species,Typhlomys cinereus and Ochotona thibetana, one belongings to a new record in Sichuan Province, the other, belonging to genera of Ochotona. It is strange that the height of the skull is very low,it is only 11.1 mm.In the meanwhile,it is the sample which belongs to the lowest altitude in Sichuan Province up to now.
