A Survey of the Mammal Fauna of Fujian,China

Through synthesizing the mammal relative records in Fujian,rearranging the mammal species records,and studying its fauna,the present paper gave a list of 147 species and subspecies of mammals in Fujian Province,China,including 27 species and subspecies of marine mammals belonging to 2 orders,7 families and 16 genera,and 120 species and subspecies of terrestrial mammals belonging to 8 orders 27 families 70 genera.Among these mammals,there were 5 species belonging to the first-grade state protected animal in China and 42 species belonging to the second-grade state protected animal in China.The marine mammals in Fujian Province were mainly oceanic type(20 species totally),and less species in coast type(4 species totally) and river-sea type(3 subspecies totally).As ecological type concerned,they were mainly temperate-water species(12 species totally),secondly eurythermal species(7 species totally) and warm-water species(6 species totally),and least cold-water species(2 species totally).Among terrestrial mammals,90 species belonged to the Oriental realm,20 species belonged to the Palaearctic realm,and 10 species were widely distributed.The terrestrial mammals showed high south-north penetrability.
