Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To implement intervention measures on irrational prescriptions in advance in outpatient department of Miyun Teaching Hospital of Capital Medical University so as to promote clinical rational drug use and ensure the safety and effectiveness of patients' medication.METHODS: A total of 564 irrational prescriptions intervened by outpatient pharmacists of our hospital from 2010 to 2011 were analyzed retrospectively with the typical drug use analyzed as well.RESULTS: There was gradual improvement in both the quality and the quantity of intervention on irrational outpatient prescriptions beforehand in our hospital during 2010-2011.The elderly patients were predominantly involved in irrational prescriptions.The cardiovascular system drugs and anti-infective agents were most frequently involved in irrational prescriptions.The irrational drug use had varied and complicated presentation,with irrationality in usage and dosage,drug combination,entry error in drug specifications and quantity topping the list.CONCLUSION: Intervention on irrational prescriptions beforehand can timely and effectively ensure patients' safe drug use.Multiple intervention measures in advance aimed at irrational prescriptions should be improved and perfected constantly to improve the prescription quality and rational drug use and ensure medication safety.
