Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of p73 and its relationship with vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in gastric cancer tissues. Methods With the method of immunohistochemical staining, specimens from 66 gastric cancer patients and normal paracancerous tissue were examined. The relationship between p73 and pathological features as well as VEGF was evaluated. Results ①The p73 and VEGF in gastric cancer tissues were much higher than that in the paracancerous tissue (P0.05).②The expression of p73 in gastric cancer tissues was significantly correlated with the metastasis of lymph node and TNM stage (P0.05).But not with tumor size, invasive depth, age, sex and pathological type(P0.05).③The expression levels of VEGF in serum of preoperation gastric cancer were positively related to tumor size, invasive depth,TNM stage and metastasis of lymph node (P0.05).But not with age,sex and pathological type(P0.05).④The expression of p73 was positively correlated with the VEGF protein expression in gastric cancer (r=0.684,P0.05).Conclusion p73 and VEGF might play an important role in progression of gastric cancer.
